AMAZING! Justin Combs Awarded Full Scholarship To UCLA!

Justin Combs, son of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and beauty stylist Misa Hylton-Brimm , accepted a scholarship to play football at UCLA, according to a statement from the family. Here is what Justin had to say:

“Playing Division I football was a lifelong dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it,” Justin Combs said in the statement.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back played high school football at Iona Prep in New Rochelle, New York.

In in own way Sean Combs called his son’s signing with UCLA one of the proudest moments of his life.

“This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about,” he said in the statement.

And get this Justin has a 3.75 GPA not bad right?

KRIS HUMPRIES WANTS TO ANNUL MARRIAGE NOT DIVORCE!!

Step aside face book there is a new kid in town, at least in the African Startup realm. It is called BANDEKA. This start up was founded by Yaw Boateng and Tunde Kehinde, who both happen to be Harvard Alumi.  Boateng is from Ghana while Kehinde is Nigerian.



The site which already got  featured in Forbes is aimed at the  well-educated or shall we say sophisticated African looking to mingle with the right crowd, in other words Rich and upwardly mobile.

HOW TO GET RID OF AV PROTECTION 2011 SOFTWARE TROJAN VIRUS!

Okay for those who do not know how geeky I can be here goes! You may have inadvertently downloaded this damn so called av protection software from a website; I happened to  have gotten it on my laptop from browsing through a popular blog, Yes Linda I am talking about your blog, please remove that add that downloads this trojan crap onto laptops. I will not be browsing your site for a while, I have heard a lot of complaints from people who have had their laptops completely infected just by going to your url!! Okay readers so I digressed, now back to the issue at at hand.

Here is what I did to get rid of this nasty maddening rubbish!

FACEBOOK IPO REASON TO REWARD EMPLOYEES

Apparently so it seems a lot of  people certainly thought  that Facebook’s initial public offering will be in 2012 owing to the fact that sthe company announced its giant funding round from Goldman Sachs earlier in the year. Here is what Facebook  said in a recent press release  ”expected to pass 500 shareholders at some point in 2011, and therefore expects to start filing public financial reports no later than April 30, 2012.”

Public filings don’t necessarily mean a company has to make its stock available for public purchase,but more than likely that would be the case

But our the main reason why the company is going public allegedly happens to be : rewarding its large roster of talented employees, who have been waiting years to cash in. Compliance isn’t the primary motive. This is the beauty  of living in Silicon Valley! Get paid for just showing up!

BLACK IN AMERICA 4 SILICON VALLEY NOT IMPRESSED BY THE STARTUPS!

Okay once again let me just say this, I am overtly critical of the documentary black in silicon valley but I have a right to be. Why you may ask?

Because Silicon Valley is near and dear to me. It is not some get rich quick place as outsiders may want to portray rather it is a place where the brightest ideas  and determination would get you to the top.

A little about me, I have a passion for tech and startups, there is just something terribly sexy if I may say so when you create something out of nothing, especially software; when you have a passion for it it shows!  Prior to graduating from college I was picked up by a major software company with roots in the bay area to join an elite class of 16 individuals trained on the company's software range. Training worth over $60000.

Mind you I have been using this  company's software ever since. Got an interest from yahoo for an internship prior to  the arrival of google, and guess what, It did not matter  that I was a petite young woman but rather the company saw something in me perhapsthe passion I had for tech shone right through.

Which brings me to my point, I did not see that passion from most of  the entreprenuers featured on tonight's show. Instead I came away with a sense of dissapointment. I had high expectations for this documentary instead I was left with  more questions!

SILICON VALLEY STARTUP ONE SCHOOL BY DAVID ADEWUMI GETS $100000 FUNDING!

This just in while we await the CNN documentary black in America Silicon valley. One of the startups from the same accelerator though not profiled in the upcoming series just got funded! Guess what readers he is one of us!

It was only two weeks ago that the first minority accelerator, NewMe, hosted their first demo day in San Franciso, Cali. The 11 founders in the program displayed their companies to a crowd of about 70 attendees. Each one had a unique startup to bring to the table and now one of them has received funding.

David Adewumi and his two co-founders received $100,000 in funding for their startup OneSchool Inc. OneSchool is a mobile app for colleges that gives the community a hands on directory of numerous things on campus. Some schools already have their own apps, but OneSchool is looking to be the solution for the many that still don’t.

Okay unless you have been living under a rock or you are  just a tech phobe you have probably heard about the black in America documentary airing on Sunday! I personally am looking forward to viewing this documentary because I am in as a woman who grew up in the valley in the tech arena, I am fascinated to see how CNN and other outlets create the shock value when it comes to documentaries.

The latest according to CNN is this. Silicon valley hides its diversity data.

Okay when I graduated from college in the valley,  my class  had only 7 students of African descent out of 2000. Now lets make the assum[tion that we all ended up at  major companies being  targeted by CNN for its diversity data, what then happens is that I might still be the only one in the first company  while  my  seven other colleagues would end up in six other companies. We would still be in the minority.
